Oh dear, where have I been?
Dear neglected blog: Sorry.
Here’s my sad story– I can’t believe I haven’t written a post since February. Oh dear!!! You might be wondering, what the heck have you been doing? Really, just plugging away at being the most fabulous SAHM & Domestic Engineer there is! *self-appointed titles! :)*
You know how things just pile up on ya, you keep procrastinating, & things continue to pile up & life just gets in the way? That’s the sad story of why I have been ignoring my blog. I’m just having a really hard time balancing all the ‘fun’ things I like to do with what little free time I get. (I know, cry me a river!) I really need to get one of those fancy time machines Hermione uses in HP & the Prisoner of Azkaban. Wonder if I can find one on eBay?
Another BIG reason why my blog is soooo neglected is: Facebook. I don’t think I need to explain further.
With all of that said, here’s to hoping for a fresh start with my blog! Wishful thoughts that I never get this behind again. No promises, though ;) Ummm. Cheers to me?!
Sooooo sit back & enjoy a little rewind on my life. I’m going to take y’all back in time. Get you all caught up on my meandering life. Next post, Benjamin’s BIG birthday in SoCal!!! (This happened back in March!) I have lots of pictures to share & stories to tell. Stay tuned…

That’s right, I’m the latest member of Facebook. I can’t believe I waited sooooo long to get on the bandwagon! Could have been all those snarky comments I made about it that was holding me back. What I really think is funny is that I can’t believe how much I like it. Maybe a little too much right now. Is it sad that after hubby and I put Ben to bed last night we both sat on the couch and cruised FB for the evening? :)
So… I’ve joined the dark side of major time suck. And, I’m loving it!
Well, it looks like someone has just posted something on my ‘wall’ and I need to figure out how to respond. Hee. Hee. Hee.

Recently, I was asked by a friend if I was going to Twitter my labor & delivery experience. What?! To be honest, I really didn’t know what the heck ‘twittering’ was about. Other than it being a sound that little birdies make.
After doing a little research and discussing this with some of the teenagers on my street, I found out that this ‘twittering’ thing was the hot new craze. As one kid put it, ‘everyone is doing it!’. Oh really. And supposedly, this is wayyyy better than just regular blogging. It’s micro-blogging.
Which begs the question, micro-blogging? As far as I can tell it’s kind of like text messaging but with ‘twittering’ you’re posting about all of those mundane moments (to the people that ‘follow’ your Twitter page) that happen throughout the day. The whole idea is based on if someone were to ask you ‘What are you doing?’
So I imagine ‘twittering’ goes something like this… right now I’m at Starbucks getting a latte and reading the latest Oprah Book Club book. Or, after I brush my teeth today, I plan on walking the dog, go to the grocery store, and mow the lawn later on this afternoon. I’m sure people are also ‘twittering’ about how the date they’re on is going, how bored they are in the meeting they’re in right now, and what’s for dinner tonight.
Honestly, too much sharing people. Too much!
Which then got me thinking… why the heck would I ‘Twitter’ my L&D experience from my hospital bed? Seriously?! I think this would definitely fall under the ‘too much sharing’ category. Can you imagine???
Hey everybody… we’re at the hospital, I’m in incredible pain, anxiously waiting for my epidural– oh jeez… here comes another contraction! Breathe, breathe, breathe. For the love of all things good…Someone PUH-lease get me that nurse!!!
Just to be clear, I won’t be ‘twittering’ my L&D experience. Apologies in advance to all of my fans :) Hee. Hee.
I realize that my opinion of the ‘twittering’ is definitely not in the majority. You should know that I have been verrrry late to anything techno-based. Some examples of this include: HUGE skepticism over cell phones, blogging, e-mailing, texting, accepting TiVo, and accepting the change from VHS to DVDs. You should know that I use and do all of these things. And, very happily I must add:) Change is slow going for the meandering mind; maybe one day I’ll accept the Twitter. Maybe. And I’m sure I’ll be the last one to the party as well.
Well… I’m off to get some fiber, head out to the 4:30 early bird dinner special followed by a rousing game of Pinochle, then off to bed before the sun goes down ;) Tweet. Tweet.

Woke up this morning to a little snow! I have to say, this really doesn’t get old for someone who grew up in a climate of pretty much constant sunshine everyday. I remember plenty of Decembers spent in shorts, t-shirts, and walks along the beach. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, I just really enjoy living in a place with some actual changes in season. Here’s some pics taken around our house this morning. Enjoy!

I thought I’d share this funny experience I had this morning…. Hubby has a wit bit of a cold and requested that I go and get him some Tylenol Cold medicine at our drugstore. So off I went. I found the formula he wanted, went up to the check out counter, put the medicine on the counter to pay for it and…WAIT, WAIT (this is so funny!)….. the check out lady asked me if I was old enough to buy this medicine! What?!?! This was so funny to me!
Now, WAY back in those college days this used to happen to me all the time. Getting carded to make sure I was indeed old enough to drink. And I used to get so irritated about it. Well, I guess now that I’m in my 30s, if the check out lady thinks that I don’t look old enough to buy cold medication (younger than 18), I’ll take it!
I happily showed her my id. And then I told her that she made my day. I never thought I would be so pleased that someone would think I looked soooo young. Ahhh, the little things!

Filed under meandering | Comments (2)Summer Caffeine Swap
Yay, yay, I received my summer swap package today! :) This summer I participated in the Summer Caffeine Addict Swap on ravelry and man, oh man was it fun! My buddy really delivered the goods. She went WAY above and beyond in the yarn department. Here’s what I saw when I opened the box:
- 7 skeins of Debbie Bliss cashmerino astrakhan (yes, 7!)
- 5 skeins of elsebeth lavold Angora
- an assortment of tea, including Mayan Cocoa Spice Yogi Tea and a bunch of Bigelow teas
- stitch markers, yummy minty smelling soap (can’t wait to try this), and two adorable handmade knitted items (she knitted a soap pocket, and a matching dishcloth).
WOW! What a swap box! Now I need to figure out what to do with all of this yarn! Thank you very much Barbara for making my second caffeine swap so much fun! :)
